IPv6 MLD Snooping

IPv6 MLD Snooping

September 19, 2011 · by David Rothera · in CCIE, CCIE Written, IPv6, IPv6 Multicast, Snippet, Tips, Uncategorized

I have finally finished my first read through of the CCIE R&S Written OCG and now is time to lab out some of my weaker points, read through a pile of RFC’s and then eventually book and take the exam. I thought today I would do a post on MLD snooping on Cisco switches. If you have ever configured IGMP snooping for IPv4 then this is pretty much identical! For this test I used the below topology which comprises of 4 routers (7206VXR’s in this case on Dynagen) and 1…

CCIP done…. CCIE here I come!

June 18, 2011 · by David Rothera · in CCIE, CCIE Written, CCIP, Dynamips, Exam, General, Studying, Uncategorized

I have been a little quiet on the blogging front for a while, the reason being I have recently taken on some more responsibilities at work and have also decided to knuckle down and finish my CCIP. After the last post when I had built up and installed my new Dynamips server along with a set of Sun Quad NIC cards (501-4366, HME or Happy Meal as they are also known) I started to run into some issues. After building a simple topology with one router connected to my 3550 I was seeing each device in the others CDP table which was good. It wasn’t until today when I was trying to lab something up where two routers connected via that external 3550 (using 2 ports on…

Video – EIGRP Stub’s

August 25, 2010 · by David Rothera · in CCNP, Route, Studying, Uncategorized, Videos

I have been going over some of my summary topics for EIGRP and just decided to lab one out so that I could see the effect of stub networks on convergence etc. I have attached a zip file with the GNS3 net file that I used for this lab if you want to follow along as well. There are still some kinks to work out with the recording of the videos so if you have any feedback please let me know. The net file can be downloaded here.
